60 things about me

Inspired by several other bloggers, I decided to hop onto a meme of listing facts about yourself (the original one said to come up with 100 but I couldn't --it's too much!-- so here's about half that.) I'd love to read yours if you do this too.
  1. I refuse to wear shoes that are uncomfortable.
  2. I'm not into shopping.
  3. When I do shop, I am extremely picky.
  4. I hate spiders.
  5. I suck at video games, no eye/hand coordination.
  6. I love to read. I read everything I can get my hands on. I used to read walking through the mall with family as a kid (told you I hated shopping).
  7. I don't watch TV. There are some shows I like -- Dirty Jobs, The Office, Simpsons, Family Guy, etc., but rarely get around to watching them. I like movies though, if they're good.
  8. In the wintertime, I wear the thickest fleeciest socks I can find. To hell with matching. My feet must be comfortable.
  9. I rarely get headaches.
  10. I don't get seasick.
  11. My stomach is sensitive. I can't eat too much or eat foods that are too old, fatty, milky, rich or sweet.
  12. I don't like bread, rice or pasta that much.
  13. I can fall asleep anywhere if I am tired enough.
  14. I often cut my own hair.
  15. I hate beauty appointments -- hair/nails/etc. are not for me.
  16. I love dancing and like to work out to music alone.
  17. I genuinely like people and care about their well-being.
  18. I'm a water snob -- I hate the taste of water and thus extremely picky about drinking it. I will not drink Dasani or Aquafina unless there's no choice. They're just bottled tap water.
  19. I hate making multiple trips with groceries, I'd rather injure myself carrying everything in at once.
  20. I have a history of not being easily satisfied with my couches.
  21. I need 8 hours of sleep or I feel sick.
  22. I like washing dishes by hand but hate putting them away.
  23. Books on tape lull me into a stupor when I drive. I can't do it. I'd rather read.
  24. I've never broken a bone.
  25. Have never been in the hospital overnight.
  26. I'm not superstitious.
  27. Not religious either.
  28. I don't like taking medicine unless absolutely necessary. On the rare occasion that I do have a headache, I will try and sleep it off.
  29. My sweet tooth is my greatest weakness.
  30. I am obsessed with flossing.
  31. I eat more slowly than anyone else I know and almost always have leftovers. And get hungry every 3 hours!
  32. I am not shy about ordering food I want. I never order a salad because "that's what girls do" -- I genuinely love salad. If I want a steak, I will order a steak.
  33. I don't like gold.
  34. I can drive a stick, had one for 13 years and loved it.
  35. I am fiercely attached to my family and also fiercely independent.
  36. Peer pressure doesn't work for me, never did. I do what I want no matter what. If someone is lecturing me, I will nod and listen and look agreeable but in the end do my own thing anyway. Pushing me harder will only make me more likely to lean the opposite way.
  37. I never dieted. I do watch what I eat and exercise but am more into the "lifestyle" theory of change than an actual diet plan.
  38. I hate talking on the phone.
  39. I love roller coasters.
  40. I sleep on my back.
  41. I do not get bored.
  42. I don't like when my car is messy.
  43. I don't like being stared at by strangers. I'll move or, if the staring is rude enough, will say something. I'm not afraid to speak up in public when I need to.
  44. I'm generally cheerful and optimistic.
  45. I'm (generally) not an irritable driver.
  46. I could use more confidence.
  47. I rarely drink soda.
  48. I'm extremely methodical about paying bills and being organized.
  49. I'm pretty content with life.
  50. I do not like dirty fingernails.
  51. I hate foodshopping.
  52. I have never smoked a cigarette.
  53. I am generally not a jealous person.
  54. I love to write.
  55. But I am getting sick of this list! lol
  56. I need laughter in my life and seek it out.
  57. I really do wish for world peace. When I read articles about other people's suffering, I sit and think about what they're going through and try to imagine life through their eyes. I give them a moment of silence and concentration to honor their pain by trying to feel it myself. And I think about how I can help and if there's something I can do, I try to do it.
  58. I've moved about 20 times. I rock at packing and setting up shop.
  59. I find everything fascinating. Stained glass classes? Wow. So cool. I want to learn piano, make jewelry, carve wood, study language, write, draw, begin painting, practice dance, take up karate... so many possibilities. Wait, I lied. Not everything is fascinating. Knitting seems boring. Sorry.
  60. I used to want to be a doctor. Long story (studied both premed and communications in college) but I still read everything I can get my hands on about health and medicine. It's amazing how much control we can have over our own well-being; info is a tool we can use to manage the quality of our lives. I am also skeptical and am not into supplements and claims not well-supported by peer-reviewed research. (The beginning scientist in me was trained well.) I am, however, intrigued by the ideas of yoga and meditation for stress and certain types of pain management. I am not against alternative medicine as much as I just require good evidence. If studies show it works, I'll believe it. The philosophy here is not much different than what I would expect from a money manager. Prove it and I'll invest.
Your turn!
