This past weekend

My nephew got married this weekend. The wedding was so beautiful, just thinking about it fills me with warmth. I'm a pretty sentimental person but this was happy occasion and so I didn't expect to tear up that much. Until, that is, I saw the bride walking down the aisle, her eyes on her future husband, my darling nephew. The love pouring out of that gaze stopped time. I knew then that she would revere him, and he her, and the only thing I would have wanted for the handsome young man I once held protectively as a baby has indeed materialized: he has found true love. The unbridled joy of their innocence brought hope to every generation in the room.

I remember the first time I fell in love. I didn't think so much then. I fell in love with every single one of my senses except my head. It was an enchanting, passionate love that didn't need to be analyzed. It was lived, and that was enough.

I met a cousin in person at the wedding:
My mom: Asplenia, this is [name].

Me: Oh, hi, nice to meet you! How do you know the bride & groom?

Him: Um, I'm your cousin. We're Facebook friends.
D'oh!

The entire weekend was lovely. I have an affectionate family and spent the whole time talking & smiling. (Except for that one time when, through gritted teeth, I implored someone to STFU and not ruin the wedding. :)

Today's gratitude list:
  • I am healthy
  • My parents are healthy and alive
  • My nephew is in love
  • My other nephews and niece crowded around to excitedly share stories
  • My mom's missing purse was found (in staff's bag, but that's another story -- they were arrested tho)
  • I ate fresh tomatoes from my mom's garden for breakfast

  1. Oh, how wonderful!
And that's what I replied to you in your comment on my last post, about living in the moment. Except you said it better.

HILARIOUS about your cousin! Oops, lol.
